RIDE WITH FRERET
ALL HAIL FRERET
GET YOUR ROLL ON
Each year, a new royal court reigns over the members of the Krewe of Freret.
On parade day a police escort leads them to their thrones for a memorable ride down St. Charles and Canal.
At Gallier Hall the King and Queen are presented with a key to the city of New Orleans commemorating their unique command and influence.
A public coronation ceremony and party is held annually at Royal Street and Elysian Fields Avenue preceding Krewe du Vieux.
In Greek mythology the final resting places of the souls of the heroic and the virtuous occupied the "Elysian Fields", where they would indulge in whatever employment they had enjoyed in life.
Darryl "Dancingman504" Young leads our parade every year.
Darryl introduced a second line component to kick off the procession, allowing all bystanders the opportunity to #BeMardiGras (even if they don't catch a coveted hand-decorated mask).
